Overview

Our library has around 10,000 copies of fiction, non-fiction, and picture books available for children to check out.

Students in the Pre-K will have a scheduled story time each week.  Students in grade K-5 are allowed to come to the library as often as needed to check out books. Library skills are taught throughout the year, and special research projects are planned in correlation with grade level objectives and current Oklahoma curriculum standards.

Library Expectations

We follow the 8 Expectations from the Great Expectations Model.  Acceptable behavior in the library includes following directions, having a positive attitude, taking care of the equipment, participating with and respecting others.

Check-Out Policy

In the Mills library, we have what is called an open policy. This means that the library is open all day, and students can check out books as often as they like. Students in grades K-2 are allowed to check out one or two books at a time and keep it for up to two weeks. Students in grades 3-5 may check out three to five books at a time.

Overdue, Lost, or Damaged Books

We do not charge any fines for overdue books; however, at the end of the school year, lost or damaged books will need to be paid for.  Store-bought replacements will not be accepted because our copies are purchased from companies that specialize in library-bound books.

If a lost book is paid for and then located before the end of the school year, parents will receive a full refund.
